Feeling completely lost.
Been TTC for 3 years, 2 early miscarriages.
I have one DS(4) who was conceived first month of trying
I am nearly 42
Been to the Bridge Clinic for tests and really unhappy with treatment/diagnosis.

The consultant has assumed that because of my age, my eggs would be the problem. AMH of 0.48 pmol has confirmed this. I use OPK's and see the LH surge every month
But that's it, no other hormone tests.
Next step is hycosys to check tubes. And then make the decision about IVF/ICSI. No mention of clomid, he talked about ovary stimulation with injections( is this normal?)
Is it worth it?
I have just got FSH levels from GP done on day 25( mixup I think)
and nurse was quite positive. LH 7.4 and FSH 12.8.
But they don't look good to me

Do I need to insist on more hormone tests, on different days, does that make a difference?

if anyone has any knowledge, advice or experience I would be really grateful for any help at all
thanks
I'm so bloody confused

If you're not happy I would certainly seek a second opinion but be prepared to be given similar suggestions re treatment options going forward.

FSH and LH levels are usually checked far earlier in the cycle around day 2. I cannot understand why such tests were done so late in the cycle and seemingly arranged by the GP as well. Presumably the clinic did not do any other hormone tests because of the AMH result but its still poor all the same.
Do you have up to date day 2 test results on LH and FSH?.

Would not rely on OPKs to give a totally reliable indicator of what is happening. OPK's are not without their limitations and it is possible to have more than one LH surge every month.

BTW has your man been tested to rule out any male factor issues?.

Self injecting the injectible drugs to stimulation ovulation is not unheard of and is the next step along from clomid; its to stimulate production of eggs. Clomid's main and only job is to make the ovaries work harder.

Thanks Attila
DH's sa was fine
Clinic did blood test on day 3, I assumed it would be fsh, but consultant only gave me amh levels. From reading I gather that amh levels are a better indicator of ovarian reserve, but then it seems that for a better picture you should have fsh and oestrogen levels too?

Tests by GP, I think were supposed to be done on day 21, she was actually testing to see if I am menopausal, as I feel so hormonal.

Thing is most months I actually feel the ovulation, and 2 miscarriages surely indicate I am still ovulating?

I think maybe injecting for ovary stimulation is a bit more extreme?

I really don't want to start over with tests, already cost about a grand
I just want the whole picture
