Yipee! after 2.5 years of TTC we have finally got our positive test after our first IUI treatment. I have a unicornuate uterus (congenital abnormality, only 1/2 a uterus and one patent tube)which means i have a high chance of miscarriage. i am only 4 weeks and therefor very early days but i really want to tell my 4.5yr DD. Is this too early?

Firstly congratulations!

yes i think it is too early. Firstly, there is risk of it not working out, and that would be very hard to explain. Also, 4.5 is still quite young even with it being fine, as 8 months is a long time for a child that young to wait!

I would be thinking more like after 12 weeks, even later maybe, 16 weeks/when you start showing. but you won't be able to wait that long will you?!!! Grin

Fingers crossed it all works out for you.

Congratulations! That's fantastic news. Grin

I have no DC myself, but IMO it is too early to tell your daughter. She is only young and if you were to lose your baby, she would find it very hard to understand, I imagine. Since the risk of miscarriage is high, I'd want to wait until you were more sure of the pg before getting her hopes up.

Good luck x

Thanks ladies - you are right. (although i knew what your answers would be!)
Its funny - life ticks along quite nicely when you only have one - and at 4.5 DD is really easy and lovely. sleeps 13 hours, till 8.30 on the weekends. So i have been wondering all this time what on earth i am doing trying for the second but i couldnt stop! There was many a time when i wanted the strength to call it a day. but now i am actually pregnant it's bloody brilliant and i finally feel calm about the descisions we are making...does that make sense?
PS my spell check not working so apologies!

I realise this thread is a few days old but just wanted to congratulate you skibi! I came across you in a search I did a couple of weeks ago (as I have only just been diagnosed with a unicornuate uterus too). I have been ttc no.3 for 18 months so it's good to hear success stories such as yours. Wishing you a happy and healthy 8 months.
