Using Clomid for subsequent pregnancies

Hi,

I wondered whether anyone could share their experience of using Clomid after they had used it successfully for a previous pregnancy. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries after my DH and I had been trying to conceive for over 12 months (I was 31). I was prescribed Clomid and became pregnant after the first cycle but I lost our baby at 20 weeks (I was diagnosed with an incomptent cervix). When we were ready to try again for a baby my consultant prescribed clomid again and I became pregnant after 2 cycles and we have a DD who is 18 months. My DH and I are thinking of trying for another baby but my consultant has advised that he won't see us for fertility treatment (i.e. clomid) until we have been trying until the end of 2011 when I will be 35 and a half! This has really confused me as I had expected to be prescribed Clomid again as I was before but am now wondering if it is standard to practice to have to try naturally (for over 18 months!) before they will see me again.
Sorry for the long post but I am hoping that someone on here had been in a similar situation and can share their experience with me. I am thinking of going back to my GP as I can't see how what the consultant has told us makes sense when I have a condition that causes infertility and I will be over 4 years older than I was diagnosed!
Thanks in advance x
