How do you sterilise a squirrel?

My DS is 9 months and has recently got very attached to sucking on the paw of a soft toy squirrel and also a Pooh Bear toy. He has been poorly today - sick and extremely runny tummy - and there is a chance that he might have got a tummy bug from the sucked paws. He sucks them as he falls asleep, just after finishing his bedtime bottle so it is very possible that they get milk soaked into them which goes sour etc.

I do wash both toys in the washing machine at 40 degs regularly but can't really go any hotter as they are made of synthetic fabric.

I would be really grateful for any ideas of how to blitz the bugs and sterilise the paws?

Many thanks!

Soak it in a Milton fluid?

this has got to be the strangest thread title!

I would hold it's paws in boiling water for a few minutes, which sounds incredibly cruel.

I am sorry but I have just stopped laughing as I assumed by sterilised you meant the other type of sterilisation!?

In answer to your question, perhaps you need to try and replace the toys with something that can be washed on a hot wash? Could you buy a cotton muslin and tie it to the toy, or even buy a cotton toy that can be washed on a hotter wash.

I am not against children sucking on things, but I am grateful that my dd2 opted for a dummy. even now (she is 2) I still sterilise them occasionally.

nothing. you wash them regularly and that should be enough. germs help build immunity.
