11mo is wheezing following a cold

Why do these things always happen at a weekend when docs are closed?!! My 11mo is coming to the end of her second cold in 3 weeks ( she's just started nursery) both this cold & the last she had a nasty chesty cough. She woke up this
morning with a bit of a wheeze and cough seems worse. Any ideas what I should do? Do I need to go see someone or wait til Monday? Her mood is quite fine. Last time asked pharmacist for something for cough and they gave me one if these glycerine type bottles which didn't do anything.

Get a GP to listen to chest. I took mine to GP with snuffly wheezy chest. He was fine. GP said warning signs of chest infection were

1, Laboured breathing, so when take of clothes and watch for sternum going in and out.
2/ Rapid breathing.
3/Baby all floppy and quiet
4/ baby off food
5/temperature

If she is having trouble breathing ( and a wheeze is a sign of this), then I would take her to the doctor's today as she could get worse in the night.

if she s wheezing then she needs to be seen now.

I would take her to see GP, just to be on the safe side. Hope she gets better soon.

Thanks. Docs is closed today so I'll need to go to a&e as no out of hours here.

it's annoying that the doctor's is closed and you'll need to go to A&E but it's not your fault that your dd is sick today and weekend cover is rubbish.

It doesn't leave you with much choice but to go to a&e.

i'd go to a+e with no qualms with a wheezing child. they are more likely to have equipment and medication needed if she needs a nebuliser or treatment. Good luck and hope she is ok.

true Misdee. the last time ds was having breathing difficulties I took him to the GP, and ended up paying 45 euros for spacers and inhalers, and then two hours later we were at a&e anyway and he was being given adrenaline.

Yes I'd take her. My dd has had bronchilitis a couple of times and times when she's just had a bad cold and a bit chesty. I find it hard to tell the diff between the two so I always take her when she's chesty. She is 12m old by the way.

Managed to get through to another out of hours service. Was seen by a GP who said she thought DD has brochialitis but didn't give her anything just said to keep an eye on her. If she gets remotely worse I'm taking her to local childrens hospital.
