my 2 yr old son keeps dislocating his thumb

This is a rather strange one. My son who is 3 in June, has started periodically dislocating his thumb. It causes him no pain and seems to be just annoying for him as he cant bend his thumb. He runs to me saying "fix my thumb mummy". With a gentle bit of manipulation, I can usually get it to pop back quite quickly and then he gets back to his play as if nothing has happened.

Although he isnt that bothered, I'm slightly concerned as it has happened about 5 times over the last month. Has anyone else experienced this? and should I be taking him to the pediatrician?

yup take him to the gp for a referral - maybe he's hypermobile? does that run in the family?

dont know of any hypermobility in the family. Though I'm fairly bendy .... maybe you are both right, a trip to the Doc is called for. I'd still be interested to know if anyone else has had the same issue

thanks
