Bloody Head Lice!!! 8-(

found them in dd's hair sunday..treat , combed and combed and combed..checked yesterday..all gone, no itching..went back to school today, comes home tonight..Fricking head lice!!!!//Arghhhhhhh...i soak her hair in tee tree leave in spray, obv they dont mind it anymore..what can i do!

You have my total sympathy. Head lice are a total pain in the bum. My dd went through a spell when she seemed to have them pretty much all the time for quite a long period. She is now rising 9 and thankfully only gets them very occasionally.

I used to buy all the different products, but now I refuse to spend out on these, but am extremely careful to check dd's hair every day. Once a week, I smother her hair in conditioner and give it a really good nit comb through (nitty gritty comb is brilliant, far better than the ones supplied with the head lice preparations).

The other thing I find does make a difference, is to make sure dd's hair is quite tightly plaited (? sp), I find that if I just put it in a ponytail she is more prone to picking up the little buggars!

Thanks Stripeytiger, doc gave us prescription for derback, needs to be on 10hrs but have combed conditioner thru again this morn and cant see anything..have left the conditioner in and scraped it into a bun and rang school who say send her back after lunch..i will scream if she comes out with them AGAIN tonight!

Someone on here also suggested hairspray on said plait to prevent them getting in.

I do the plaits with dd, she had 4 plaits yesterday

princessmel - I have heard that they don't like hair gel, so maybe try that on ds?

Dd1 keeps getting them (3 times in the past month), i have given up treating her (just combing) until she breaks up tomorrow for easter and then i will treat her again.

We have tried most things, hair spray, washing hair less, wearing buns, plats and i even cut her hair of a few weeks ago and she still comes home with them. .

I was told by a vet nurse that putting on conditioner, like you are doing, and leaving it on for 15/20 mins really helps kill them as they breathe through their skin and this helps to suffocate them. The thing is, it will get the ones that have hatched but the eggs that have still to hatch means you will have to repeat the process a few times. It's a pain in the arse and you have my sympathies.

P.S. It's also a nightmare if there is a child at school with them and the parent is just not doing anything about it. Lazy B*stards!
