is she happy at school/home?
my sister had terrible stomach pains as an adolescent, which were eventually diagnosed as stress-related...

she did start high school last september but had felt this way at infants, did think it might be anxiety related but work/friendships seem good and she really seems to want to go. Am thinking hormones now....thanks

I didn't realise until recently that there is such a thing as a stomach migraine.

I used to have unexplained tummy aches/nausea too for a few years at this age. They eventually went, but I wonder looking back if it was that. Might be worth asking.

has she had any alergy tests?

Did they rule out mesenteric adenitis, like tonsils positioned nearish to the appendix? DD2 wasin hospital twice in 3 months with it, major vomiting and pain. She was 11. The advice was to avoid infection. We took her to a local gp who does various complementary therapies, she gave her a homeopathic lymph thing and probiotics.

She never actually vomits (hasnt for 6yrs!!) just constant nausea, took her to be allergy tested and was on strict diet with probiotics for 8wks but no improvement.

Wots weird is that she feels nauseas all the time but some times it completely knocks her off her feet and she just takes to her bed, then it passes, its driving me and her mad!

DS1(5) was diagnosed with cyclical vomiting syndrome (abdominal migraine) last year. On waking he starts to vomit and spends the next five or so days retching and nauseous. In between he sleeps (sometimes with his eyes open which is rather freaky). Sleeping is the only relief he gets from it. The CVS episodes happen every few months but as yet have not found a trigger. He has anti-sickness medicine but it's not effective once an episode is underway. After about a week he just snaps out of it.

Might be worth keeping a diary to see if these attacks happen after/before certain events or when exposed to infections (ds1 often has an episode if there is a virus going round at school - he doesn't get the virus, just a CVS attack).

That sounds hard alright pat! My dd2 was VERY physically sick, and threw up the anti nausea medication in hospital.

That must be really tough for you Nicnocknoo! She has even said perhaps she would feel better if she could be sick....that worries me on so many levels, her age, anarexia(soz cant spell 2day )etc etc etc

Am probably jut repeating what other have aid but my first thought was abdominal migraine. I suffered from this from a toddler up until 16-17. Attacks came every four/five weeks. It was put down to lots of things, including gall stones and stress/anxiety. My GP at the time asked me to keep a diary and that's how it was FINALLY diagnosed! Hope you get some answers soon.

We have been told to keep a diary, there just seems no pattern to it....How do you treat abdominal migraine?
