Possible nut allergy but not peanuts. What do i do?

Noticed that my four year old said his throat felt funny when he ate a cashew nut. He's said this on two occasions.

I don't want to try them on him again in case he has a major reaction.

He has eaten peanuts and had no reaction.

Also, he has a lot of loose stools, so i'd like to get him allergy tested. How do i go about it?

Have you had any experience with allergies to nuts other than peanuts?

Get your gp to refer your ds for proper allergy testing, don't go for any high street testing or kinesiology, vega testing etc.
DS is allergic to tree nuts, although funnily enough the only one he wasn't allergic to was cashew. He also was allergic to peanuts for a while and grew out of peanuts by the age of 12, may have been earlier but wasn't tested between 6 and 12. He is still allergic to the other treenuts.
DS is also allergic to seseme and he used to say the same thing as your ds, that his mouth feels itchy after eating them but we didn't really worry at the time.
When he was 4 he had a weekend when he had seseme and was sick and then two days later he had a reaction to pecans, facial swelling, sneezing and vomiting.
After that he couldn't eat any nuts.

Thanks bruffin. He just started getting stroppy and said it felt bitty. So we weren't sure if it was because they are very hard. When he did it the second time we thought we ought to be careful, although he seemed fine afterwards. So we're just not sure really, but concerned enough not to give him another.
