Ok, may be a silly question but...

Can you still get a sore throat after having your tonsils removed? DD1 had hers out last August, she has come down with a cold and is complaining of a sore throat!! So what's making it sore?

Having your tonsils out doesn't mean you won't get infections, it just means your tonsils won't get infected.

So, what's infected down there then? Just mildly curious.

Inflammation can make it sore, she can still get a sore throat with a cold/the flu, she just won't necessarily get tonsilitis (unless they didn't remove all of the tonsil which has been known).

I had mine out a couple of years ago and the middle of my throat now gets sore IYSWIM, not the sides.

if they are anything like mine (which haven't been removed) I have a lot of scar tissue and roughness from past infections along the throat itself.

Yes, if she has a sore throat, then she has a sore, um, throat.

It could be the back of her tongue, roof of her mouth, edge of her oesophagus/trachea, any, all of the above.
