foot and mouth in 3yr old

my 3yr old had a really sore mouth/throat and then developed a slight rash on hands and feet. It looks like prickly heat.
The nurse we saw said that it is foot and mouth disease and just to wait for it to go away.
24hr later, my 3yr old is fine and very well but the prickly rash is still there, although not bothering him.

Do you think it's ok to send him to playschool?

The internet keeps talking about blisters but there's no sign of these at all.

Um, I think you mean hand, foot and mouth disease, unless your dc is a sheep! Sounds like it's quite mild - my dd1 did get a lot of blisters on her hands and could only eat ice-cream for a few days, poor thing! We had to keep her at home until the blisters had gone because it's quite contagious.

This is what Wiki has to say.

DD had this last week. She thankfully only had a rash (no blisters) on the palm of one hand and no other symptoms but the GP told me to keep her off preschool until the rash had gone (i.e the rest of the week - saw him on Monday).
