Hello im new here and im so worried i need some advice! )please be patient VERY long story)
OK!

On the 1st Jan my Daughter who was 2 was beign potty Trained she went to use the potty and then started calling me shouting ouch when i got there her Rectum was hanging out of her bottom i took ehr to A&E but by the time we got there it had goen back in so we waited for 3 hours and was seen by a Doctor who just pressed her belly and sent us home, We had a letter from the hospital sayign to soem and see a surgeon 3 weeks later by this time she was 3, it hadnt happened since and we were told it was just a one off thing.

Since then it happened on the 14th March then again on the 16th of march we took her to the A&E again who told us to take her to our GP who referered her bk to the hospital but the refferal never arrived so i had to have it sent again, i got a letter 2 weeks ago to say her appointment is on the 15th May and since then its been happenign every other day but its happened 3 times today.

Im so worried i have no idea whats goin on with my poor little girl she knows when it coems out and when it goes back it she turns to me and says (its all better now mummy u can smile)

I have taken a photo to show the surgeon when we go in 3 weeks btu id like to know if anyoen else ahs gone through this and if sowhat happened or does anyone know of a way i can get the hospital to see her sooner.

Thanks.

Hi mummymoggi,

Sorry you and your DD are going through this. I found this in on the web, which has quite a lot of info. I think this is the website that the GPs use when they need to provide quick and easy to understand info during a consultation (my GP printed out a page from the site for me once). Hope it helps.

www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40024660/

There is info in there on treatments too. Good luck with your referral.

Hi mummymoggi,

I was just researching this topic, as my daughter (who's 34 months, 3 in July) had her very first rectal prolapse a few days ago. I was completely shocked, but just pushed it back in. It happened again today, so I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow. I found the following Website quite useful in explaining what it is and why it can happen: www.keepkidshealthy.com/welcome/conditions/rectal_prolapse.html. My daughter has never had a huge appetite, but I try to give her a balanced diet and she eats lots of fruit. She did however go through a few months of being constipated a few months back, but she's been much better recently since becoming toilet trained. When she was constipated, we told her that she needs to push out her poo.... now she's pushing too hard. I've started saying that she shouldn't push so hard but I hope this doesn't cause her to become constipated again. I will definitely introduce more high-fibre foods and follow a diet which will help avoid constipation. I've taken a look at the Website above - thanks for the link, very informative... I doubt the doctor will be able to tell us anything else but worth a visit nevertheless. Hope your daughter's prolapse improves very soon and I hope that my daughter's doesn't happen again.
