Another earache question.

DS3 (10) has had a cough/cold since half term so last Tuesday we took him to Dr who said it was a virus, and to sit it out, although it may last another month.

On Weds night DS3 was up complaining of earache several times for which I gave him paracetamol and ibuprofen. He went to school on Thurs, but I collected him at lunch time and he's been pretty groggy since.

Today, he feels better, but it still hurts - he's gone to school (wanted to...), but is it worth going back to GP, or should we just wait? When my other son had an ear infection, he wasn't presbribed anything and it did eventually go, but this son's one seems much worse, he doesn't usually complain of anything so it must be bad.

I appreciate the reluctance to prescribe antibiotics, but DS3 has barely had them and it seems so unkind to leave it without treating. After 4 days of it, should I take him back to the Dr and be firm, or hope that it goes away. I must admit that I was hoping it would be better today, but it obviously isn't.....

I'd go back and get it seen. You don't want his hearing to be affected if its not treated properly....
