Am I being paranoid

Ok have 2.6 mth old DD.

Today she has been totally whiny, wanting cuddle, wanting mummy, moaning, whining.

She ate breakfast. Been drinking bot bot all day. Took her out as I thought she'd cheer up.

Fell asleep in car way before normal nap time. She normally wants to walk for ages until she tires. Didn't want to walk, wanted blanket on her in pushchair. Been dozing on and off all day.

She didn't want to eat anything, didn't even want to get out and have a cuddle with me. Thought I'd try and tempt her with some chocolate buttons (rare treat!) but she only ate some and gave them back.

Got her home, she sat on the sofa went to sleep for over 2 hours. Just woke up, grizzly, whiny, saying "I want mummy" and I am right here. Seems like it hurts her when I pick her up, or she is just very whiny.

Temp low grade fever bout 100, seems "glassy eyed" and slightly watery. Changed her into her pyjamas and her feet were so cold - even though she was wearing socks. Checked for rashes etc, but nothing, apart from about 5 angry looking spots by her bum - they have been there for a couple of days and I thought it was slight nappy rash. They haven't spread.

So tell me, am I being paranoid? She is dozing again now.

Thats not normal for a toddler whos had about 4 naps already today.

that doesn't sound normal, but i guess it could be anything. have there been any bugs going around near you?

She is poorly.

And you've had a tough day. (I can tell by you typing "bot bot" )

No bugs that I know of.

She was kinda okay this morning but got worse by this afternoon. You know when you get really worked up - cant work out if its because I'm already stressed about other stuff in my life and this is heightened, or if it's just me overreacting?

She is lying on her side on the sofa by me, with a blanket on her, drifting in and out of sleep and drinking her bot bot

Even with blanket on her, her feet still feel a bit cold.

she sounds like she's coming down with something
ds was like this last week, then he got a temp and a sore throat and was ok a couple of days later
keep her snuggled up (not too warm) and let her rest a bit till she feels better

I hope so, it was just the whining that made me worried and when she woke up the grouchiness of being handled.

Obviously your mind goes to meningitis, so I have called the gp and am waiting for him to call back.

I feel like those totally loony parents who freak out over their child having a splinter or something...

Have you done the glass tumbler test on the spots? Press the glass side or bottom of the tumbler on the spots - so that you are looking at the spots through the glass - do they fade/blanch? If not, you need to get medical advice asap - the test is described on NHS direct website - or phone NHS direct.

I've pressed the glass on there and they are still there but they look like spots - they fade slightly - they've been there for a couple of days.

Well I took her to the docs, she checked her over.

Said she did have really cold feet and said she had seen a couple of other babies with same symptoms yesterday. She's got some kind of viral infection and sore throat.

However the doc was lovely and said if I was worried bring her back at any time. So lovely!

She was in bed with me last night and had high temp, still high now, she woke up, refused to eat, but is drinking lots of bot bots and now gone back to sleep.

A day in bed me thinks (for me too!)
