Norovirus or not?

NHS direct think DS2 has norovirus, we're not convinced...

Need to plan ahead if we're all going to get it BUT no one else has yet shown any signs of poorliness yet (4 days after ds2 started) - if it were noro would have thought we would???.... What do you guys think???

Tuesday he started with diarrhea and off his food, no vomiting. Eating bits and keeping most of milk down. Has gradually progressed to full on vomiting on xmas day (thursday) after a feed and with wind but still keeping some milk feeds down. Same today (seems to vomit when he's had too much as he's desperate to the point of hysteria for drinks/milk). Now he's obviously dehydrated and we've started on rehydration salts and he's perking up a bit. Will continue with this for a day or so and gradually move to reintroducing starchy foods etc later tomorow and stay off milk altogether for a coupdl of days (been through lots of gastro bugs with ds1!).

with norovirus it is usual to have stomach pains for about a week after the main D&V have gone. Plus the onset of simultaneous D&V more likely than taking 2 days?

He's perking right up with the dioralyte thank goodness, even had a little play this evening and giggled at ds1. Kept 9oz of water down now plus some flat lemonade...think we're over the worst!

Thats what I though sleighgirl, the onset just doesn't fit noro to me but at least he's on the up now. Will be heading out for soya milk in the morning.

Believe me, I have had norovirus. I literally could not eat anything at all for four days (for two days I could not hold down water), and then I was seriously unwell for a month. I was totally knocked sideways by it (hospital acquired infection) and the onset was very very sudden (both ends- sorry if TMI). If he is keeping some milk feeds down then I think that it sounds like a normal gastro bug. Glad he is perking up now Pheebe. What a duff Xmas.

Thanks domesticslattern, I had is last year - it was hideous as you say and left us wiped for a couple of weeks. Funnily neither of the kids caught it though as we were obsessive about hand washing, and are lucky enough to have 2 bathrooms.

He's almost back to his old self today Has eaten and kept down some jelly, a biscotti and some shreddies with soya milk on. He's been playing and toddling round the house after his brother as normal and is no longer shrieking for food/milk. Such I huge relief! I really don't think it was noro, none of us are showing signs so far...
