Has anyone put their child into 'play therapy' ? Is it good or a load of cobblers?

DD is seriously distressed at the bedtime, and something is definately getting to her. She has been like this for a couple of months, and in the last few days its been getting worse.

She's 4 and a real worrier already. Someone today suggested play therapy might be a good idea to help identify/ resolve the problem, which I agree with, but know nothing about it. Apart from the fact that its £50 a session, and they recommend about 12, yes that's 12, sessions.

Anyone?

i don't think it's a load of old cobblers, but I am pretty sure you could do something similar at home.

when ds1 has something worrying him, I sometimes try and get him to play things out with toys,
ie, he wasn't settling in at nursery, so one day I got the farm house out, and lots of little fisher price people and started playing with it pretending it was nursery,.

he then took over and I got a lot out of him.
children tend to play their own experiences of things,,. can be very helpful

Try reading a book called "Dibs" (it will be on Amazon) - it describes the process and approach very well, and might help point you in the right direction if you want to see what is involved.

you can access play therapy free via referral eg GP,HV.if you do go private look at play therapy uk make sure your PT is registered.site says BAPT conditions lay play therapy can help

make sure the PT is registered,as it isn't protected title anyone can call themselves play therapist

my note of caution is why recommend a commitment of 12wk?what if sleep disturbance is mild and resolved less than 12 sessions
