Explosive No. 2's after anti-biotics - normal or should I stop the course?

Sorry for unsavoury subject matter, but my ds (11mo) was prescribed amoxycilin for a throat infection on Sunday and has done a horrendous clothes-destroying poo every day since. It's clearly the anti-biotics causing it, but he's had it before without this trouble.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should we keep giving him the medicine or stop the course now - the throat infection seems to have cleared up already?

You have to finish the course. It may appear to have cleared up but the antibiotis need to be finished to get rid of every last trace of the bug or else it can come bak and you run the risk of it remembering the antibotics are and becoming resistant (bugs are very clever at doing this by the way). Phone the GP up about the diarhhoea. It is a normal side effect though but check incase they want your little one to have something else.

Thanks so much. Can't speak to GP till tomorrow morn so it's good to have that info in the meantime. Will keep him on the meds and just resign ourselves to more impromptu baths!
