My 3 year old daughter was playing on our laminate flooring yesterday, she spun round and where the laminate joins it has splintered and pushed right under her toenail, after 5 hours waiting in casualty we were finally seen, they decided she was getting to distressed and sent us home with magnesium sulphate to try to draw it out, im worried about it gettig infected, but the nail should fall off. She goes back to school tomorrow after the easter holidays, I dont know whether to keep her home so she doesnt hurt it in school as shes limping with it, any advice would be great fully appreciated, thanks all xx

Try to soak her foot in hot water with a lot of salt for at least 20 min. You will have to add hot water when it gets cold. Sit her in front of the tv or a dvd. At least 20 min, time is the key here.

After 20 min, both the splinter and the skin are very soft and you should be able to pull it more easily.

I will have to try that in the morning as the magnesium sulphate has broken it into pieces but not moved it closer to the edge, thanks for your help xx
