Any guesses on what DD has done to her knee? She's crying in pain.

Hi, dd (10) hurt her knee playing basketball earlier. She didn't fall or knock it but turned funny and said it made a squeaky pop. She says this was more of a sensation than noise. She was in pain when I picked her up after school but the pain has got progressively worse as the evening has gone on.
It's swollen slightly but not bruised. The weird thing is that if I put my hand over it I can feel vibrations quite strongly. Like a zingy vibration when she was crying I could feel it in her knee. Sounds silly but I put my other hand on her other knee and I couldn't feel it. She's a sporty girl who is used to minor injury such as swollen fingers from hockey etc and I can see that this time she's in a lot of pain. She has gone to bed early crying in pain. Sad Do I need to take her to A&E?
Oh and she needed to wee after she put PJs on but literally couldn't put weight down so DH had to carry her to the bathroom. She's not prone to dramatics as far as health is concerned. Any advice id be very grateful for. Thanks

If she can't weight-bear then I'd take her to A&E. Maybe a dislocated knee cap?

I'm not a medic but it sounds like it could be a dislocated kneecap to me. I think I would have taken her to A &E.

I think you probably do. If she's asleep now then leave it until morning but it sounds like it needs seeing to.

Thank you everyone for all the quick responses. I am very grateful. I was worried about dislocation due to what seemed 10minutes ago like agonising pain. But wouldn't it look funny? It just looks a bit swollen and feels a bit soft in comparison to her other knee but maybe it's soft because it's swollen if that makes sense! DH has just come down saying she's whimpering but feels sick and shivery. I've given her ibuprofen first at 4 then again 15mins ago. I need to get her back up don't I? Poor girl Sad

Thank you, gamerchick, and everyone else. If she hasn't fallen asleep within the next 15minutes, I'll get her up and take her in.

Sound dislocated. My sister does this a lot - her practice nurse knows her well and pops it back in. It is sore and the pain can make you feel sick.

Thanks you, Casmama. It doesn't look at all like that picture. I've just checked on her and she's asleep and it does look weird but more inverted than anything. If she wakes in pain I'll take her otherwise I'll take her first thing. Thank you all.
