BCG vaccine?

It seems to be out of stock in my borough and one GP suggested it's really redundant nowadays, so I shouldn't worry, but I heard about outbreaks of TB in London, so..? Don't know if I should look for the vaccine somewhere else or not, vaccinate my DD or not..?

Is it advised for children in your area?

Depends which area of London you live in. It's only advised if there's a certain number of cases in the area you live in. My first baby had it, my second didn't.

If you are in London or travel often to eastern European countries or Russia, it is advised to have it. Otherwise you will probably be OK.

Personally I'd seek it out. Just because we've reduced it doesn't mean it will not return if we get slack with immunising.

Hmm.. come to think of it.. it used to be when I had my first daughter, but with my second daughter no one really mentioned it or urged my to do it (I mean the midwife or nurse giving other vaccines), so maybe it's not anymore, but maybe it's only because it's out of stock? I just don't know whether I should be concerned and 'demand' the vaccine or leave it? I'm going to talk to the GP again, thank you:)

DD was advised to get DGD immunised. SW London. She was supposed to have it before leaving hospital after the birth, but they'd run out (this was back in Sept). She ended up finding a clinic quite a distance away that had some in stock and trecking over there to have it done.
