6 yr old had couch for ages

My da had a bad cold and cough with a fever a few months ago and seemed to recover but over the past few weeks I've noticed that he has been coughing a lot again. He's well otherwise, it's just the cough. How long can a cough last? I'm a bit worried incase it's a sign of asthma although I don't think yes wheezing at all.

If he's had a cough for a few weeks I'd take him back to the doctors. If you suspect asthma, coukd you vacuum his mattress, floor and curtains, wash his bedding at 60 degrees and pop his soft toys in the freezer for 6 hours? This should get rid of most house dust mites and if he improves you can tell his GP.
