7 yo dental abscess?

Just brushed by 7yo teeth for the night which is unusual as dh usually does it. There was blood in the spit and she complained of pain and when I looked there was a blimmin massive lump on her gum. She says she's had it for a month and Dad says just swill water around and spit if it bleeds (this must be an exaggeration, whatever dh is he is not a fool).
She's had a hard time with the molars coming in at the back so maybe he thought it was that? Anyway I'm shitting myself about it and feeling mortified that she must have been in agony for ages. Will she have to have the tooth pulled? Our dentist doesn't open till 9 in the morning, do I send her to school and try and get an emergency appointment or do I go and sit there hopefully.
Help please. Tell me I'm not a shit Mum!

Send her to school and try to get an appointment. It is possible to treat deciduous tooth abscesses without extractions but not always.
