New Uncle - Worries and Fears

As a new uncle I feel I am going through a kind of depression/worry usually reserved for the mother.

He is age 1, in a loving and extremely well looked after family. He wants for nothing and is looked after so well. But I find myself thinking about WHAT IF he was NOT from such a home.

I see how precious he is, how even holding him requires such care and attention. Even just lifting him requires such care and attention to ensure he is safe and fine. I am very protective as is the entire family.

I find myself thinking about WHAT IF he was living in some troubled home with people you wouldn't trust to look after a cat let alone a baby.

This evening while slowly and carefully placing him on his changing mat, he ever so slightly banged his head on the edge. He cried briefly and I worried about it. He seemed fine. I checked and apparently the odd bump happens occasionally. He is 1. But it upset me so much. Thinking of how easily these things can happen if a baby is not in the care of good people.

but he is from a good home, why do you think you are so worried? babies are very hardy they are tough little things.

He's 1? That can't be the first time he's bumped his head?

Do you suffer with your mental health?

You really don't need to be that careful with a one year old...
