Toddler keeps plugging ears with fingers

Hi I just wanted to compare notes with my fellows mums. My toddler who is 22mths has been putting her fingers in her ears for the past few weeks. Took her to docs and she put her on antibiotics said it could be caused by her throat infection which irritates the ears and also she has a large wax build up. My DD has almost finished her antibiotics and has still had no relief from her ears...has anyone experienced a similar thing with their little one? If so what was the cause/diagnosis?

Is she putting her fingers in her ears because they hurt? Or just because?

Yes because they hurt! She had a throat infection and ear wax build up which she's on medication for but not seeming to get any relief ie she still putting fingers in ears
