Should I take ds to the doctor tomorrow?

Ds (11) has been pretty poorly since Saturday - woke me at 6am throwing up at the bottom of the stairs (nice) then spent the rest of the day sitting on the toilet with the runs.

Sunday was better - ate a bit and kept it down, still running to the loo every 15 mins or so but kept his fluid levels up. Seemed much better Sunday evening.

Monday had the runs again - basically running out of him like water (sorry tmi) so stayed in bed, ate very little but managed to drink plenty of fluids.

Today he has been much better - bowel movements are firmer and he has been a lot brighter so intending to head back to school tomorrow.

BUT he has just thrown up in his sleep! Now complaining of tummy ache and his tummy is rock hard and really painful to the touch. No temperature or rash and he is completely with it so no confusion.

Question is do I bother the doctor tomorrow or do we wait it out?

I would go with doctor definitely, just the last bit about really painful rock-hard stomach is a bit concerning

I would take him if he seems no better in the morning 4/5 days is a long time. The rock hard stomach would bother me as not a normal stomach bug symptom.

Until you got to the rock hard bit, I would have said just let it run its course. The rock hard and painful could be appendicitis. If you can't get to gp tomorrow, phone for advice or go to A&E if still hard and painful.

Took him to the doctors today and we have to obtain a stool sample to send off to see what they are dealing with - they think he may have picked up a bug but they want to know which one to know if he needs antibiotics.

They also queried grumbling appendix but the no temperature doesn't fit apparently but the hard tummy does Confused

Good news is that I am managing to keep him hydrated so that's good.

He's reasonably comfortable tonight apart from sore tummy - he's held onto his dinner at least - we shall see what comes back from the tests.
