DS has had bad allergic reaction to Ariel washing liquid. What should I do?

DS 13 has got bad red rash (raised skin type) all over body. What do I need to do? I have given him an antihistamine tablet. Trouble is I have just done a massive load of washing since coming back from hol and I'm not sure which loads I used it in. I usually use Persil non bio but tried some Ariel as it was on offer? Damn it!

Should I re wash everything and will the rash go by itself or does it need treating? Is it better to re wash or rinse everything? I am assuming a doctor's visit isn't necessary or is there anything they could do to help the reaction go more quickly?

I am really fed up :(

Is it likely that he's just sensitive to the change in perfumes? Dd is sensitive to Persil and gets a rash. Antihistamine usually sorts it out.

Can you just wash his clothing?

My DS is like this with bold 2in1. Just rewash all his clothes, keep on top of the anti histamine and apply calamine lotion if its too itchy. If it seems to get worse, then get him checked over

Antihistamine and wash everything again. You could do a wash with a very little of the usual washing stuff because it's more about the rinsing. Happened to me with a new kind of Lenor. It's very annoying. You can get topical anti itching cream if he's uncomfortable.

Thanks I will re wash all his clothing - just wondered if it was better to re wash with other detergent or do on a rinse. I am hoping the antihistamine will work but it looks terrible.

As a child, I used to get a skin reaction to Ariel too. I had a rash that would itch all over my body. It went as soon as my dm switched washing powders.

I don't recall going to the dr's, and I think you've done the right thing in giving the antihistamine tablet.

Unfortunately, I think you'd need to re wash your Ds's washing. Very annoying I know.

I'd also react if my bed linen/towels were washed in Ariel too.

I did have allergy testing but not because of this but because of food reactions.

Eurax cream is amazing at stopping the itch and works for hours, if your ds is itchy.

So keep an eye on the rash, re wash his clothes. See gp if the reaction is getting worse or speak to your pharmacist.

Hth and your ds gets over this quickly.
