Molluscum contagiosum question

What are people's experiences once the first spot starts to swell up and the core starts to push through/bleed? How soon after that happens do the other little buggers flare up and go?

We have one on the verge but they are spreading all over DD at rate of knots in meantime.

She is on immunosuppressing drugs for another condition - am terrified she is going to be covered in it with no prospect of it clearing up. Her consultant has warned that the treatments are pretty harsh and she is needle phobic already. There are loads appearing on her face.

Any advice would make me feel a bit more in control! She is school age and feeling self conscious. TIA.

Bumping for you - but there was a thread about molluscum very recently. Either in Chat, or General Health (I think).

My DS has it, he's nearly 4. I find the spots do flare up and then go in batches but he's had it fr about a year now and it always reoccurs :-( I'm sure that's not the answer you're looking for. As far as the research I've done into treatment, it's all really invasive, can cause scarring and doesn't actually treat the virus, which is what makes the new spots appear.

Try zinc and caster oil...had MC as a young teenager, nothing seemed to work until started slapping on zinc and caster and a week later all spots disappeared -amazing!

When my DS had it the GP advised just leaving them.
He only got a few spots. They lasted for about 18 months.

Thanks all, we have a few flaring up but also a lot of new little ones appearing. Was hoping it was on the way but sounds like maybe not!

Hi, I visited a Homeopath with my daughter. It cost £35 and after a 45 minute consultation she prescribed little sugar tablets and a cream. They were gone within a few weeks after having them for 18 months so really worked for Meg.

I'm using a wheatgrass spray on my DS. It was recommended by a friend and within 2 or 3 weeks they were all starting to flare up and then disappear. So far there is no scarring and the new ones that cropped up next to the ones that were bleeding seemed to also disappear very fast.

He's still got a couple of new ones popping up but the spray certainly seems to have accelerated things.
Unfortunately it's on his face so you can imagine it's rather a nightmare.

Tea tree oil worked for my immunosupressed child. Dabbed on with a cotton bud twice a day. They were all gone within 6 weeks of appearing.
