Given up on NHS Health visitors, any thoughts on going private?

You could go to another baby clinic. I didn't like my local so went to another. By the way, they are all the same, but HV could be good or unhelpful. They like to answer to all your questions with: its normal...,most of the times they are right. Try another clinic before you go private. We stopped going when my DD was 7 months.

What exactly are you looking for advice on?? I found hv's pretty useless anyway.

Have you tried your local sure start childrens centre? Often they have health visitors attached to them and so someone different may be able to see you there?

I have had a real torid time just lately, between the family not sleeping, constant illness and needing some general advice and support I have written my local health visitor off as a 'lost cause'. I have left countless messages, had no ring back, I went to clinic a waited a life time only to be offered the chance to self weigh my Own bubba, before being ushered out the door!

So i have decided to bite the bullet and go private! But how do I decide who? I found a few who seemed really genuine, one of them is a man. Not sure I know how I feel about it. No different to a male Gp or nurse I guess, but still unusual. I spoke to DH and he didn't seemed to bothered, as long as he delivers? A few friends I spoke to suggested I ring and ask a few questions over the phone. This is the link i found www.privatehealthvisitoruk.co.uk there were a couple of women as well but they seemed more interested in selling complicated 'packages of contacts', I don't know I want to sign up to loads of visits, I might only need a few.

Has anyone come across this person? Or had any experience of them? Have you used a private health visitor and if so how did you get on? Was it worth the money?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to do my homework before making any decisions?
