Is talcum powder bad for a baby?

And if so, why? I've used it a couple of times after the bath on my 5 month old DD. It makes wrestling her into her clothes easier and reassures me that she's really dry. I like it, but I feel bad because I have a vague notion that it's bad for babies. But if it is, then why do I have Simple Baby Talcum Powder, with Tatty Teddy on it?

i think there is a worry that if there is clouds of it, the baby could breathe it in.

What are in its ingredients?

Ther was concern a few years ago about a link between baby powder and, I think, ovarian cancer in later life, but if there's no talc in your powder, I'd just be concerned about it being messy and your DD shaking it all over the carpet when she's more mobile and you're not looking

No honestly! I read it in some prob trashy baby/ child's magazine at a kids club. London baby or something

A quick look on google does confirm but how reliable and to what extent I'm not sure.

I don't htink it contains the same as asbestos, more that the particles are so fine that they can be easily inhaled and cause lung problems
