Hi Im new on here and worried about my two year old. It started on saturday he was fine running around playing with his brother then all of sudden he came and sat next to me red hot!
His temperature was 39.4 and we gave him calpol but it went to 39.9 and stayed there for around 2 hours. He was very sleepy and lathagic. I rang NHS direct and got a appointment for the out of hours doc. But no sooner did I put the pone down he got up and was back to normal no temperature and again running around with his brother. I cancelled the doctors appointment.
Then about two hours later he was red hot again this time with the runs. I took to the docs and they said a viral infection and a tummy bug and told me to keep dosing him up.
He had a good nights sleep saturday but woke up red hot on sunday. Same again very poorly then all of sudden back to normal health.
Last night sunday he was up all night temp at 40.0 but he was complaining that he was cold. Took him doctors again this morning but of course by time I got there he was fine. and he said he seems happy and just give him plenty of water.
Now even after nurofen and calpol his temperature is up at 39.8 again!!!!

Sorry for the essay but very worried about him he is never ill he has no rash just hot to the touch and at minute he crying in a sleepy state. Don't know what more to do.
My baby daughter has just come out of hospital as she had some text done and worried se has brought home a bug.

I don't know what it could be but my DS behaves very like your DS when he's ill (and always has done - he's now 4.5). He'll be ill, hot and lethargic then once temp has gone down he'll run around as always until temp goes back up again. Pixie gives some good advice about using a combination of Calpol and Nurofen.

Take him to the GP - you should be able to get an emergency appointment. It does sound as though he has an infection (maybe ear or throat?) and probably viral, so not much that can be done, but it sounds as though you'll feel better knowing.

Give your GP a ring - they have to fit him in if you're worried.

Hope he gets better soon.

hi she is just 5 months been all bloked in her nose since 2 weeks old and struggerls breathing through it. She went into hospital to have a 24 hr ph tudy done looking for reflux (don't think it is reflux as she has no symptons of it)
We are just waiting for them results and for her to have a camrea down at manchester. She is very tiny as she can't feed proper due to her breathing bless her.

Don't know how you cope with twins having a touderler and a baby is hard work.

When I took my my DS to the docs this morning I felt like he thought I was making it all up as he was all over the place and laughing lol little monkey

Hi watercress took him this morning when he seemed all better. The doc had a look at his ear, throat and listened to his chest and nothing was there. I do think it is just a viral in which case antibiotics wouldnt do anything. Just worried he will get too hot and have a siezer. I have stripped him off to just his nappy.

thank you

he has now woke up his temperature back upto 39.9 he is shivering all over not having a fit jut like he is cold. he is really clingy (not like him he never cuddles) and whingy crying

Pixie no she hasnt been tested for allergies thought they would have done that. She had a over night oxygen saturation test which was below 94% for 15% of the time which caused them to take a more serious look a her but they still havent give me any answer for her.

God I sound like a hypocondriact with my kids. My two boys have been realy good kids but my DS is very demanding and my DH can't cope with her as its seems only I can settle her lol.

What allergie has your daughter got?

Again agree with Pixie - a high temp for a few days can be a worry so worth going back to the doctors.

yeah he is actually really thirsty.

He has come round abit now watching his telly but his temperature is still at 40.0

If I ask him where it hurts he just say his hands lol (he only turned 2 last week)

Dallas my DD is was breast, then breast and bottle but now just on bottle and she is on 3 jars a day as well. She finds the jars easier I think as she dosnt have to work so hard to eat.

We have dogs but even if she stops at my mums she is still the same?

Hi, my ds had a really high fever for 5 days solid back in January. It was very worrying, it must have been virus as dr couldn't find infection. Also might be worth checking his urine if temp still high today. Hope he's better soon it horrible when they're not well.
