Is Beast Quest violent?

I'm looking for a present for a 7-year-old boy and wondered about a Beast Quest book as they seem to be very popular with boys of that age. Have never actually read one myself though. I double-checked with the boy's parents and they hadn't heard of them and just said "yeah so long as it's not too violent", but I have no idea. Not really sure what "too violent" would be either? This boy likes Star Wars so presumably light sabre fights are ok with them! What do you think?

Never having read one i can't possibly comment

However, i do have a 6 1/2 year old boy who loves Star Wars and i won't buy him the Beast Quest books. They seem to be quite popular in his class, but when i looked at the covers and the info on the backs, i just didn't like them.

My son does love the Astrosaurs books though.

Don't go there - they are hideous - Boy fights and defeats a beast in every book - Girl stands on the sidelines cheering him on. My boy is obsessed with them and I cannot believe that we are going along with it. Most series of books for boys seems to involve some element of fighting in them - I'm desperate to find something else.
