DD is addicted to them.

We have all the Nick Sharratt ones(fab).

I want a book/books like those I read as a child with lovely illustrations etc

Any recommendations?

No, but I'd love one too, so I'll keep watching.

I have this and it's well written and beautifully illustrated. You've probably got all four stories from it already though?

Not all in one book, but the old Ladybird books are still quite good in my view, if a little dated. There are different versions so when browsing your favourite 2nd hard bookseller, check the book version. I prefer the 606d's. List of book titles.

I love that one, Frisby. Can't wait for dd to be old enough. I enjoy finding Ladybird books at village fetes, etc.

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you mean, but what about ones illustrated by Arthur Rackham? (Most often illustrating Grimms Fairy Tales.) Timeless.

Oh yes from my childhood I would hunt down Sinead de Valera on Amazon. Irish fairy stories and wonderful stories.
