Books on fashion design for a 12 year old

DD1 is very into fashion and a good, if rather quirky, "artist". Could anybody recommend a book for her, which would tell her the basics of figure drawing for fashion design? I've had a peek on Amazon but thousands of books come up if I search for fashion design and I don't really know where to start!

I can tell you loads tomorrow when I go back to work to check!

I teach textiles and we,ve got 2 really good books on this.

I think one is called " A fashion notebook" which has lots of info on how to split figures into sections.

I think the other is called "A source book for fashion" or something similar. Again really good, but different, lots of tips on how to make buttons/frills/gathers/elastic/ whatever look realistic. Also has really good figures to trace.

Both v good, I'm sure Amazon have them www.amazon.co.uk/Fashion-Source-Book-Kathryn-McKelvey/dp/1405126930/ref=sr_1_34/202-9675281-2915054?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21? ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1194805099&sr=1-34, fashion sourse book, probably a bit sophisticated. Can't find other one which is better but will check tomorrow.

As you will see, there are millions on Amazon

You could start collecting Vogue magazines for her too.
She could get alot of inspiration from them.

Plus they'll be worth a mint and great items for her to look back at when shes older.

It's called "A Fashion sketchbook no4", but can't find it on Amazon. There are other ones on there but they are all expensive.

HTH

Thanks Fizzbuzz - I'll try the local bookshop and see if they could order it for me.
