Children's books

Books for first birthday

Hi there,
It's my little boy's first birthday soon and I would like to buy him some more books to add to our bedtime story selection. Any recommendations would be gratefully received. I read a range of very basic age-appropriate books to those with more narrative/plot (still designed for young children though obviously). Thanks.

And for very basic plot, I got a Spot treasury, it has 10 short stories in. Very vivid colours and super short and direct sentences so easy for young toddler to understand.

I recently went shopping for books for a 1st birthday. I was really impressed by the books by Chris Haughton, which have beautiful, unusual illustrations. I got "Oh no, George!" but would happily have bought them all! I also bought "Meg and Mog" because I have very fond memories of it (must be from reading it with my baby sister rather than reading it myself!) and having looked through the books, I think they stand the test of time.
