Best Allen Ahlberg Books for 5-6yr old

I am not from the UK, but I came across "Cops and Robbers"by Janet and Allan Ahlberg on Amazon and ordered it - my 5 yr old son adores it. Wonderful illustrations

I've since bought Mrs Wobbles (which is a hit), Funny Bones (ok), Each Peach, Pear, Plum (for my youngest) and the Jolly Postman Christmas book (great)

The problem is these books are not sold here - I can't see them before I order.....so I've bought a few that don't quite hit the mark: Cinderella a pop-up fairy tale (too old), Jeremiah in the Dark Woods (too old), I was a Dark and Stormy Night (too old), Mrs Cliff the Climber (not my favourite and came in a small almost pocket sized edition)

Any suggestions on other Ahlberg books we might enjoy in the 4-6 yr old range? which ones from the Happy Families collection would you recommend?

Classic books and perfect for an age 6 ish reader

I admit, I've considered "Burgler Bill" but the synopsis seems...off-putting - with the whole baby in a shabby box being stolen. I'm open to being convinced it's more pleasant than it sounds

Burglar bill is lovely.

I only like the books by both Ahlbergs, have tried a few with him and someone else and didn't like them. Her illustrations are so warm. Get Peepo for your younger child if you don't have it.

So sad Janet Ahlberg died so young. Might be too young but it's such a lovely book,

The Baby Catalogue will be too young for your 5yo, but is such a lovely book. I often give it as presents to new babies (the hardback version - the paperback version doesn't seem as 'special')

Both my dds adored it, great to discuss and as they get older, have them point things out.

The Pencil and The Runaway Dinner are perfect for a 5 to 6 year old.

"The man who wore all his clothes" and "The woman who won things" are good ones, also Please Mrs Butler and Heard it in the Playground if you want to try some poetry. Some of the poems are slightly outdated or slightly too old (in terms of referring more to junior school issues) for a 5 year old but my daughter loved lots of them. Funnybones is great too.

Can't remember the name but the doctors daughter from happy families went down well here.
