I'm after recommendations for books for a fussy 11yo boy please. Books he has enjoyed recently include the Cherub series, Harry Potter series, Gone series,, Laurent St John books, Percy Jackson books and heroes of Olympus.
He didn't like Artemis Fowl, Young Sherlock Holmes, doesn't like to sound of Eragon or Wonder.
What have your ds's of a similar age and taste enjoyed?

There is a WW2 version of the Cherub series. DS enjoyed the Stormbreaker series (though may have been younger) and the young Bond series.

Thanks Two Do you know what the WW2 Cherub series is called? It sounds like his type of book. He loved all the Alex Rider/Stormbreaker books. I think he has already read Young Bond too.
Any other suggestions please?

Joe Craig writes thriller type books for that age group too. Jimmy Coates series I think?

The thriller writer Carl Hiassen also writes thrillers/mysteries for children/YA - he might like those? Scat is one, there's also Hoot, can't remember the other titles. They've usually got a bit of an eco theme I think.

Michelle Paver's Gods and Warriors series (as opposed to the Wolf Brother, although all here have enjoyed them). Has he read the other Rick Riordan books? DS1 at that age enjoyed the first of the Joseph Delaney Spooks books.

How about Mister Monday and it's sequels by Garth Nix? My 12 year old nephew has just read Enders Game by Scott Orson Card. It's a brilliant, thought provoking book (the movie doesn't do it justice), but you may want to have a look as it may be a bit old.

Oh and the Johnny books by Terry Pratchett.

Why not original Conan-Doyle Sherlock Holmes? Can always start with short stories, like Silver Blaze.

How about the Skulduggery Pleasant series from Derek Landy?? There are plenty in the series, and they're nice thick books ... so it's a good one to get into.
