Well, small child here isn't of an age to yet but, while not exactly ghost stories, the Alan Garner books (particularly The Owl Service) were good at sending shivers down the spine,

Robert O'Brien's The Silver Crown could be one she'd enjoy too.

Marianne Dreams? And maybe also Charlotte Sometimes, not exactly a ghost story but might also appeal.

Love Charlotte Sometimes and Marianne Dreams. Cliff Mcnish does YA ghost/fantasy horror quite scary. Some of Tim Bowler's are ghosty.
Anne Fine did a really creepy one called The Devil Walks...
I would never, ever have been brave enough to read any of these at 11, though!

Thanks for your replies. She's going to have a good look on Amazon when I come off the laptop and also in WHSmith.

Try Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror. It's sold as Young Adult but my 11 year olds really like them.

Room 13 by Robert Swindells was my favourite book at that age.

Friesops Fables is now a firm bedtime favourite in my house.
One of the stories is called ' The Ghostly Bear' very simple to read and beautifully illustrated. You can see one of the other stories ' The Pinstriped Panda' narrated below.
