Picture books with women driving tractors?

Needed for a friend's ds . . .

I suggested Apple Tree farm, but apparantly in the one they have (The Snowy Day) Mrs Boot doesn't drive the tractor at all - the farm worker gets it stuck and then a male neighbour pulls it out with his horse, so fail all ways round.

I suppose you might find some published in Moscow or Warsaw in about 1970.

Confused

Not quite sure why that would be the case - I know plenty of women in RL (inc me) who drive a tractor, any reason why books shouldn't reflect that? This is 2012, not 1952!

Friend is a single mum living on a farm, her ds is v.small & would like some books that reflect his reality, don't see what is so odd about that.

I didn't say that a woman driving a tractor was odd.
What is odd is that it is rarely portrayed in kids
books - I challenge you to find one...

Don't ask me what the reason is, ask the book publishers.

Hmm, maybe there's a market opportunity, NellyJob . . .

Will check that one out, Casey, thanks.

Come to that a picture book writer that realised that there was not a cats chance in hell of a horse pulling out a stuck Fergie would be good too . . . if a 2.5 year old can figure out how silly it is, surely it isn't rocket science!

How about the Katie Morag books - one of her grannies is my hero, she's brilliant and drives a tractor.

There's a Heggerty Haggerty book where she drives a tractor, too.

Of course - Katie Morag is a great idea. Will have a look for one featuring granny & the tractor.

Oh, and of course in the Katie Morag books Grannie Island (hmm, is there something about grandmothers and tractors?) drives a tractor - but I couldn't tell you offhand which titles in the series include pictures of her doing it.

It's not a story book but You Choose by nick sharratt has a woman driving a tractor as one of the jobs you can choose.

Loads of books! Many thanks all. I don't know You Choose but remember it being referred to on here as good, maybe that would be a nice one to look for as well.
