Because I keep wanting to start new threads for the classics I come across that are being republished, I thought I'd start a catch-all thread.

First - MOUSE HOUSE! by Rumer Godden (I used to love this). Being published together with the Mousewife as Mouse Time (Jane Nissen Books).

A collection of Rumer Godden's doll books has also just been published by Macmillan - The Fairy Doll and Other Tales from the Dolls' House.

What ages are they suitable for, do you think? I haven't read either.

Anything from 5-10, I'd say. Maybe 7 in general?

Mouse House is good for quite young children - The Mousewife maybe for a bit older, I think.

DD has enjoyed The Fairy Doll aged 5 (the beginning of it is here but I was going to wait a couple of years before The Doll's House, which again is a bit more complex (and one of the dolls goes up in flames!)

talking of mice - The Church Mice by Graham Oakley is back in print.
(and the sequel The Church Mice Adrift - i assume there will be more forthcoming!)
that's suitable for all ages! but as a picturebook, from 4 upwards, i would say.

Jane Nissen has reprinted loads of amazing stories not touched by other publishers.
Green Smoke by Rosemary Manning (the R Dragon series)
here's the publisher's website
they're available in most good (bricks and mortar) bookshops!
