Boks about starting school or going to playgroup

I need a book for my playgroup. The ones we have are far too detailed. I like the look of the Topsy and Tim one (bright bold pictures, not too much text).
Any recommendations for us gratefully received.

PS We have Lauren Child and Shirley Hughes one, we need a much simpler one if poss Smile

The Anholts- Billy goes to School.

Surely you could use a one of the detailed books and simplify the text as you read aloud?

That Shirley Hughes one is lovely.

Thanks for those suggestions. Spot, Maisy and Harry are firm favorites in the playgroup. I thnk they have the simplicity and boldness of pictures we're after.

And yes, of course we can simplify the text Smile just looking for something different and thought we'd try a very simple one for those who struggle to even settle in playgroup not necessarily preparing for school.

'Wemberly Worried', by Kevin Henkes, deals with anxiety about school and other things. There are lesson plans online too. Wemberly is a little mouse, a very sympathetic and easy to identify with character. I really love Kevin Henkes' books.

Quote -- 'Wemberly worried about everything. Big things, Little things. And things in between.'

My DS really struggled to settle at his pre-school and his lovely keyworker recommended Owl Babies. Not about pre-school environment but perfect at reinforcing idea of parents/carers going away and always coming back again.

I posted a query here at the time for advice on books to help, and found that Maisy goes to Nursery, Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School and Topsy and Tim went down really well.
