Okay, I know you're not supposed to have syntocinon or other chemicals to augment labour if you've previously had a c-section and are trying for VBAC.

BUT my question as I was putting together a birth plan, is what about teh syntocinon injection to expel the placenta in third stage? Is this okay after a previous c-section? Are there risks?

Is there another way they can do that w/o the injection?

I didn't have anything to help expel the placenta with my 3rd DC, evven though I hadn't planned not to, (althogh I did feed her) and to be honest, I would let the placenta deliver naturally if I ever had another baby.

hmmm, i didn't have the injection last time and placenta took ages to deliver (despite feeding)...midwives started getting twitchy, all a bit stressful after an otherwise very natural labour.

to the extent that when i give birth the next time (hopefully sometime in the next 4 weeks i'm thinking i'll just have the injection and be done with it)

I don't have strong feelings about delivering the placenta naturally. If I manage to deliver the baby this time, that will be more than enough for me, and I think by the end of it, I will be just fine for the whole process to be over asap. So, I'm happy to have the injection too as long as it's safe.
