How do I get a copy of my labour notes?

Was never given or shown them after having dd, now am preg with db2 am interested to see what actually happened in labour as i don't really remember much.

Would my gp have them or do i need to ask at the hospital?

Don't know for sure, but I thought the hospital keeps them. You're brave, wouldn't contemplate reading mine, the graphic detail and bringing it all back.

Ask your community midwife. Round have to write to the Head of Midwifery at the hospital where you gave birth. They can charge you up to about £15 I think for photocopying - - they can always return it if they don't want to charge you - but it can take quite a few weeks to get them.

Also if you are going to have a hospital birth, they are likely to have them to hand when you go for your booking appointment - I asked to have a look at them at that point and they were happy for me to do that. It wa a bit like reading my school report, especially the bit where it said "patient very stroppy"....

I've got copies of both of mine!

Call your hospital, ask for Medical records dept, ask them what their procedure is. It's most likely that you will be sent a form which you complete and get counter signed by a witness. Once returned they have to reply with 40 days and the MOST you can be charged is £50, it should be less.
