I had two and they didn't work! DD was 16 days late in the end so don't get your hopes up! Good luck though.

I had a sweep with DD, was 7 days overdue and went into labour 12 hours later - after the sweep I went for a long walk to try and get things going. Be prepared for a little bit of bleeding after the sweep - nothing too bad but you may need to wear a pad.

I had a sweep last week. It was not a good experience and didn't work for me. Now 11 days overdue and booked for induction in the morning

Sweeps are best performed at around term + 10, and if that doesn't work, again at term + 12. Anytime before then and you will be very lucky if your MW can actually perform a sweep let alone it being successful......

However, if the cervix is favourable, a sweep is a good way to tip you into labour.

It shouldn't be overly painful, but maybe quite uncomfortable, especially if your cervix is posterior. So, good deep breathes and relaxing thoughts help, maybe even some calming music f you are having it done at home.

Anyway, good luck! I hope it works well xxxxxxxxxxxx
