Australian MN'ers - talk to me about VBAC homebirths in Oz (particularly Melb) after

I had my first DD last May in London at the Chelsea Westminster and as the labour didn't progress after 2 days went for a very chilled un-traumatic CS. My AMAZING doula (Marslady), DH and I all agree that if I'd stayed at home she would have come out just fine...in the end.

We are planning to head home to Oz in the next year or two and I want to go home pregnant with the next one and have a homebirth.

Would love to hear from anyone who has done this in Oz but particularly Melb as that is where we will be living.

• What costs are we looking at?
  
• Are doctors supportive of VBAC's and homebirths

hello sorry dont know exact details we live in brisbane. The only thing i found out about home birth was that in some states they are trying to out law it and if you do have one you have to live very close to the hospital. they dont seem keen on the idea here! I googled home brth australia and found one organisation but not sure where they were based and we are are nearly 45 mins away from the hospital so that would have been deemed to far away.

The run Choices for Childbirth antenatal classes in Melbourne, including ones on VBAC and homebirth I think. They also have a list of midwives in private practice. You will need a private midwife to have a homebirth as it's not available on the public system.
