Moving to Peterborough

hi, I'm moving to Peterborough 11 days before my baby is due in May. I need to find a midwife, hospital (i've heard bad things re Peterborough - Huntingdon any better?), baby group (need to make some friends). Also have a 2 year old - looking for a centrally located creche he can use a couple of times a week. Any advice please?

I have heard positive things about Peterborough - but agree there is also some bad.

SIL deffo prefers Hinchingbrook (huntingdon) to PDH for all of her care - maternity & otherwise.

Not sure if you will be able to travel to Hinchingbrook though if you are significantly closer to Peterborough. SIL is about half way between the two.

Never had any at Peterborough but have had 2 at Hinchingbrooke and am expecting to have no 4 there next year. Have had good experiences though tend to arrive ready to deliver and leave a few hours later! nothing against Hinchingbrooke but love to get home.

For Baby groups there is the NCT group that meets on a thursday at 10 at all saints church. park road, central peterborough.

There are loads of centrally located nurserys in central peterborough. A highly recommended on is or was called Broadway nursery, on broadway.

As for PDH well, I had DS there and well lets say well, some aspects bad others good.

I am due in april (end of) and am at the moment still choosing PDH due to the locallity. I know loads of people who have don hinchingbooke and I hear nothing but good about it.

However PDH have a head consultant who saved my life and went over and above duty for me when I had an ectopic pregnancy, he is the sole reason that I am going there.

I may however change my mind you never know.

hi. i had my ds in hinchingbrooke a few weeks ago. while in there antenatally i met a lovely lady from peterborough. ( became really good friends, met up loads since) she refused to have her 2nd dd there and came to hinchingbrooke. she ended up being induced and having a c section and still sung their praises aswell. i personally have no problem with it apart from the norm of not enough midwives!!! but you get that anywhere.

i live the other side of huntingdon at the min, but loooking to moving to peterborough area in the new year. i will however travel to hinchingbrooke for any hospital care.

i have a 2 year old dd aswell. where abouts are you moving from.

I had DS at Hinchingbrooke, I didn't have a fantastic experience tbh, but from what I know overall they are normally quite good. I have friends who went to Peterborough and won't do so again, so I would say based on my anecdotal evidence avoid Peterborough if you can.

I had 2 in Peterborough, the antenatal care I received was second to none! I was high risk both times, and they couldn't do enough for me. My consultant, Mr Lumb, was fantastic!
