Cant wait for labour - am I mental??

I know that some people are scare of labour and giving birth etc but personally I cannot wait! I'm 25 weeks with DD and had my DS 17 years ago so it's not like the memory of child birth is vivid. But I'm wondering if it's because i'm going to insist on a HWB (unless in danger, of course) that i feel differently this time.

With my DS, I was flat on my back in a small horrible hospital room and it was just awful! I truly dont want to go through that again - no way!!

I wonder if it's a control thing that's making me look forward to it? That and wanting to meet my daughter of course.

Nope, I don't think so. I'm looking forward to mine too. in fact when the birthing pool arrived I felt positively over the moon giddy excited and when i think about it I get bubbles of excitement.

When there are no complications etc giving birth is a wonderful thing and we should look forward to it.

During my recent HB I was in the bath & in good going labour (ds appeared within the hour) I remarked to my mum "Is it totally wrong to be really emjoying this?"

Pregnancy sucks but I'd happily give birth again!

I was so fed up of it all I just wanted the little bugger OUT so I could discuss at length why they felt the need to use my bladder as a trampoline, stick a foot under my ribs, seemingly use my spine as a xylophone, wake up and party every single time I tried to sleep (I think they had mates round )......

I didn't really think about it the first time, but I'm definitely looking forward to this one - even though it looks like I might have to do it without dh.

After a difficult and protracted labour with ds, I do see it more as a job to be got on with than an 'experience', but am looking forward to doing the job as well as I can, IYSWIM.

Yeah I know what you mean. With DS i had no clue and was quite nervous and scared about what would happen and where i would give birth etc. This time around tho i feel so much more in control, it's great!

I had DD only 14 months ago for my labour is still fresh in my mind shudders. I have just posted a new post asking for advice on having a more enjoyable time. Reading all your posts makes me more positive though.

I do have moments of looking forward to it, but mostly I am not. Saying that, I can't wait to meet my new baby girl (just wish I could avoid labour!)

Maybe I just need to pull myself together and think positive....

Gemy, was DD your first?

I've had a pg phobia for the last 16 years and just looking at pg women made me shudder!! Now that i know my options and all the different ways to give birth, my mind has been completely changed.

Yes, DD was my first. There do seem to be more options now but still no sign of the 'aparate-the-baby-out' option

I loved the tenth month of pregnancy both times, knowing that labour might start any minute. Felt like Christmas Eve.

I would love to give birth again. After a section and then a normal delivery my 3rd one was fab as I knew I could do it.

I am excited about the birth starting just not the active labour part!
