it is a long post... but i really want to give you a good idea of whats going on.

im 38 +1 and today we had our last scan + consultant visit before our baby is born (our history required more attention for this pregnancy). the scan result estimates baby is around 9lbs/4.2 kg. we know, the sonographer knows, that this is only an estimate. it doesnt mean that the baby is that big... anyway, when we saw our consultant right afterwards, he said even its only an estimate of her weight, he cant ignore the scan. therefore, the edb that is 1st of august, has turned into our induction appointment in case she is not born before that date. fine.

now, after explaining that to us, he wanted to do an internal examination to see engagement and possible cervix opening. yes, she is around 3/5 engaged but no cervix opening. while he was at it, i got a feeling that he might be pooking around a bit longer to get things started, a sweep perhaps.

after the consultation i got mild cramps, probably from the 'agitation' caused in there. few hours later, i see a brownish discharge on my pad... is it possible that its my plug coming down or is it just a deeper down kind of discharge now descending because of the internal?

I ot a brownish discarge after any nternal (even one 4 wk's before due).

When I had my plug go - there was no mistaking it. The sheer volume...!!!

it is more likely to be a bit of bloody discharge after your obs having a rummage !! a show is usually more mucousy and lumpy, and would sit on top of the pad , rather than be absorbed like discharge......IFYSWIM

38 +1 would be earlyish to expect any dilation, especially for a first baby....

Sorry for a quick hijack!

How much volume are we talking about re a show? I had the snot on my pad last night (yay!) but maybe a teaspoon full. Is that meaningful?

that could well be a show

sometimes you get one big lump . other times it comes away in bits

it can be clear but often bloody
