what info do you put on the birth notification?

It looks like i have finally found womens aid refuge accomodation and have to use a PO box address as the address is confidential and i am not even allowed to give benefits, dr etc the real address without permission from refuge staff.

and have been told by the general register office you do not have to give your address ust a rough area when you register the birth but wondered what midwives put on the birth notification that goes to the regieter office and also if you actually give birth at the refuge what do you put down as place of birth

thanks

Have you asked the refuge staff?

The address on the birth notification is the address that you have on your hospital information. I have never seen a refuge address as a PO box address I have to say so I can't help you there. The refuge staff should be able to help.

hello, I'm a midwife!
The place of birth would be registered as a home birth, the address of which will be 'usual place of residence'. Your address does usually go on the birth notification, however, you could use a correspondence address for all your hospital records ( as well as birth notification), particularly if your current address is temporary-do you have a family member or friend in the close area you could use for address?
Another option to find out more is to contact the child protection midwife at your hospital(only because she will be the one most likely to have involvement with women in refuges) for more details, as she will be used to finding ways to keep information discreet.
Hope this helps

Hi Missmillie - I ma a midwife in Scotland and the address of the mother is on the computerised notification done in labour ward. It isn't on the card that the mum/parents take to notifiy the birth. Is that the one you mean?
