How long do they wait before giving you a sweep? Induction? Csection?

I'm overdue and they gave me a sweep at my 40 week appointment. I had a second sweep at 40+6 (no apts at 41 weeks - today). The midwife will call me tomorrow to see if I have delivered, if not then she'll book in another sweep for Friday (41+2) and will also book an induction for 42 weeks. She said that in standard cases they don't induce before 42 weeks.

All three of mine were overdue. You'll be offered sweeps between 40-42 weeks and an induction at around 42 weeks (earlier at some hospitals).

You can turn down any form of intervention if you want to. They'll offer you daily monitoring after 42 weeks if you turn down an induction.

Speak to your midwife about your options. You won't automatically be offered a c section unless there is a reason not to try induction first.

At 40 +11 I was told to have sex. It worked!
The booked induction was no longer necessary.
I was visited daily until that point for monitoring.

I found it helpful to think nothing before 42 weeks was actually overdue. I was going to refuse induction but dd arrived at 42 weeks on the nose so didn't need to go onto daily monitoring.

I went to 40+11 with DS2.

I didn't have any sweeps (wasn't offered, probably would have refused them anyway). Was booked to see MW on 40+12 to book induction but labour started the day before.

I had two failed sweeps (that means my cervix wasn't even dilated enough to get her fucking finger in ffs give her a crowbar or something) at 40+3 and 40+10
On the second failed attempt she booked me in for induction on 40+13 but I was desperate for a home birth and she said I could attend hospital and just be monitored, with a view to going home without induction. She said we could probably only push it a few more days, really.
But then labour started on 40+11, a Friday evening and she was born minutes into 40+13.
I tried hot food, sex, wanking (sorry), pineapple, those raspberry capsules, even acupuncture. Ridiculous.
The little buggers will come when they're ready.

Good luck Flowers Cake
