Hi Everyone,

I am currently 37+2 weeks (2nd baby) and have just got back from my midwife appoint who said the baby is fully engaged and very low.I asked her does this mean the baby is coming very soon and she said there no way of telling. I was just wondering for 2nd time mums when did your baby engage and how much time before birth.

The only reason am really bothered is because i am having an elective c-section on the 24th january after having alot of problems with my last birth and am scared of going naturally. x x

Thanks for your help

I still don't think that for second babies being engaged means anything. With dd2, I was engaged for ever - from around 36 weeks and also very low. DD2 eventaully arrived 13 days late....so in my case, it didn't indicate anything!

My daughter was engaged at 24 weeks and dropped at 30 (cue lots of peeing). I was induced during week 41

sorry..your midwife speaks the truth ! it is no indication ! if you are having an elective, and think you are going into spontaneous labour . then call the labour ward...!

my DD was partially engaged from 34 weeks and arrived on her due date...

Yup - no indication at all. DS is No2 and decided to engage at 32 weeks. Turned up 3 days before due date. I think I peed more often than DD who was relatively new to potty training then
